Narrative
FRANKLIN, MA – A two-vehicle crash caused by a drunk driver in south-central Norfolk County killed a child last Saturday.
The fatal collision happened shortly before 6:30 on Grove Street, which runs north to south on the west side of Franklin.
Police say that a black pickup truck veered onto the wrong side of the roadway, colliding head-on with a car.
A little girl from the car died after transport to an area hospital.
Her mom, dad, and brother were also transported to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity.
Officials arrested the wrong-way driver, identified as 21-year-old James Blanchard, on charges that include DUI and motor vehicle manslaughter.
The investigation is ongoing.
