Narrative
CHELMSFORD, MA – Police are investigated a single-vehicle accident that killed one person and injured another along the highway in north-central Middlesex County.
The incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. on the southbound side of US-3 near Route 129 in Chelmsford. This is just northwest of Warren H Manning State Forest.
It’s not yet clear what caused the accident, which police say involved an SUV and a pedestrian. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the deceased.
The SUV sustained significant front-end damage.
Officials closed the southbound lanes of US-3 in the area of the crash while crews worked to clear the scene.
An investigation is underway.
