2 officers hospitalized after being hit by driver during parade

BOSTON, MA – A man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly struck and injured two Boston police officers during a parade in Jamaica Plain on Sunday afternoon, according to WCVB.

The collision happened on Walnut Avenue near Franklin Park at around 2:30 p.m., during the Puerto Rican Festival and Parade.

The driver of a Ford sedan reportedly ignored multiple warnings from two police officers working the parade before he drove through a police barrier and struck them with his vehicle.

The two officers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police identified 28-year-old Jamaica Plain man Jamauree Haywood as the driver. He is facing charges including reckless operation of a motor vehicle leading to endangerment and assault and battery with a deadly weapon.
